Sarah Henry Marrs was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, between 1846-1848 (probably in 1846), to William Marrs (1816-1872)(a cobbler/shoemaker) and Nancy Henry Smith (1817-?). Per the 1850 and 1860 census, Sarah had several known siblings: Martha (1835-?), Mary (1841-?), Elizabeth (1848-?), James W. Marrs (1850-1920), and Harriet (1852-?), all born in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky. (See the ancillary images #1-2)

Sarah married James E. Barrett (1841-?) on September 18, 1862 in Taylor County, Kentucky. (See ancillary images #3-5) The offspring of this union included Nancy B. (1864-?), Maggie Willia (1865-1914), Carrie (1867-?), and Bettie (1870-?). In the 1870 census of Pleasant Gap, Bates County, Missouri, James Barrett, Sarah (Sallie) and the four children are listed with James being a school teacher. (See ancillary images #6). However, in the 1870 Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky census, Sarah F. Barrett, twenty three years old, with the same four children, is listed as head of household in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky, suggesting that her husband, James E. Barrett, was deceased or no longer part of the family after Sarah and the four children moved back to Campbellsville. (See ancillary images #7-8)

Sarah (Sallie F.) Barrett married again on December 14, 1876 in Marion County, Kentucky to Cyrus Borders (1845-?) at his residence. (See ancillary image #9) Their children included Lilian (~1877-?), and Annie (1879-?). In the 1880 census, Sarah (thirty two years old), and Cyrus Borders (a “disabled” “Waggoner” by occupation, with a history of a broken hip) were still living in Campbellsville with their three year old and one year old daughters (but without her children by James E. Barrett). (See ancillary images #10)
By the 1910 Federal Census, Sarah (Sallie) is listed as a sixty two year old widow, mother in law, mother of six (only two of whom were living), and had removed to District 0016, Morrilton Ward 1, Conway County Arkansas with her daughter, Maggie Willia Barrett Crozier and her husband Hugh V. Crozier. (See ancillary image #11)
By the 1920 Federal Census, the seventy two year old, widowed Sarah (Sallie) she was living in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, (see ancillary image #12); her daughter Maggia Willia having been dead for six years.
