Great thanks are given to all the below individuals and institutions that contributed samplers to the Antique Kentucky Samplers collection! As you can imagine, without their interest and devotion to this facet of the historic decorative arts, this website would not be possible. More importantly, a portion of our collective history, and certainly Kentucky’s history, would be lost. Again, thank you all!
Several people have been instrumental in the development of AKS and deserve special recognition:
Jennifer C. Core & Janet S. Hasson, and their Tennessee Sampler Survey were the inspiration for AKS. Their early enthusiasm and completely unselfish giving of advice and materials is most appreciated! AKS aspires to be as academic and comprehensive as Jennifer and Janet!
Similarly, early and ongoing enthusiasm from Amy Finkel at M. Finkel & Daughter was and is, invaluable! Her willingness to share her connections in the sampler community, her ongoing advice and her editing skills (in her typical academic fashion) are all astounding and acknowledged!
